Main benefits
  • Pattern Identification: Traditionally used for TCM patterns of Liver Qi stagnation with Spleen deficiency, often accompanied by internal Heat and mild Blood stasis. This may present as stress‑related mood and digestive imbalance, premenstrual discomfort, and a sense of constraint in the chest or flanks, framed in TCM terms rather than Western diagnoses.

  • Core Function: Classically described as soothing the Liver, supporting the Spleen, harmonising the middle, and promoting the smooth flow of Qi and Blood. In later developments, added ingredients clear constrained Heat and move Blood more strongly, broadening the formula’s use to patterns with emotional tension, Heat signs and mild stasis.

  • Qi, Blood, and Heat Relationship: Based on the TCM view that constrained Liver Qi can impair Spleen function, generate Heat, and over time lead to Blood stasis, this blend addresses all three layers: it gently supports Spleen Qi, helps maintain the free flow of Liver Qi, moderates internal Heat, and encourages healthy circulation of Qi and Blood, rather than focusing on only one aspect.

  • Key Ingredients: Chai Hu, Xiang Fu and Qing Pi are used to support the free movement of Liver Qi and ease a feeling of fullness or tightness in the chest, flanks or abdomen. Dang Gui and Bai Shao nourish Blood and help maintain a balanced mood. Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, Gan Cao and Da Zao support Spleen function and digestive comfort. Mu Dan Pi and Zhi Zi are added in traditional formulas of this type to temper internal Heat and irritability, while He Huan Pi is valued for its soothing effect on the Shen (Spirit). Tao Ren and Hong Hua are traditionally used to support healthy microcirculation and the smooth movement of Blood.

  • Emotional Component (TCM): Often chosen when emotional factors such as stress, frustration, mood swings or premenstrual irritability are prominent within a Liver–Spleen disharmony pattern. In TCM language, this reflects the Liver’s role in Qi movement and the interaction between emotional constraint, Spleen function and the generation of internal Heat and mild Blood stasis.

  • Region of Action: Especially associated with the Liver, Spleen and their influence on the chest, flanks, epigastrium and lower abdomen. In the TCM framework, these are regions where constrained Qi and Blood can give a subjective sense of distension, fullness or discomfort, even when no structural abnormality is identified in biomedical terms.

  • Classical Heritage: Rooted in the classical formula Xiao Yao San (“Free and Easy Wanderer”), which is a key reference in TCM internal medicine for harmonising Liver and Spleen patterns. Later elaborations added ingredients such as Mu Dan Pi, Zhi Zi, He Huan Pi, Tao Ren and Hong Hua to address patterns described as Liver constraint with Heat and Blood stasis on a background of Spleen weakness. This product follows that line of traditional development while being presented as a food supplement.

Which extra herbs added to classical patent and why
  • Hong Hua (Carthamus tinctorius - Safflower) and Tao Ren (Prunus persica - Peach Kernel) form a classic blood-moving duo in TCM, traditionally used to resolve blood stasis. These two herbs enhance the heat-clearing properties of Dan Zhi Xiao Yao San and add specific circulation improvement, especially useful for menstrual irregularities and pain caused by blood stagnation.

  • Qing Pi (Citri reticulatae viride - Unripe Tangerine Peel) is the strongest Qi regulator of all citrus peels in TCM. It enters directly into the Liver and Gallbladder meridians and helps to resolve Liver Qi constriction. This herb adds extra potency to the original Chai Hu (Bupleurum), helping especially with pain in the chest and hypochondriac region (side of the ribs) caused by Liver-Qi stagnation.

  • He Huan Pi (Cortex Albiziae - Mimosa Cortex), as in the other formulas from Weinsch, calms and stabilizes the Shen (spirit) while gently releasing Liver-Qi. This herb helps with the emotional dimension of stress-related Liver-Qi constriction, where tension, restlessness, and emotional blockage go hand in hand.

  • Xiang Fu (Rhizoma Cyperi) is a classic secondary Qi regulator that specifically treats Liver-Qi stagnation. It adds an additional layer of gentle Qi movement, preventing the more powerful blood-moving action of Hong Hua and Tao Ren from feeling too drying or cold.

Weinsch Less Worries Blood Extra strong is based on classical Xiao Yao–type formulas, most notably Xiao Yao San (“Free and Easy Wanderer”), which emerged in the Song‑dynasty TCM literature as a key prescription for harmonising the Liver and Spleen within the traditional theoretical framework. Over subsequent centuries, this classical base was adapted by adding ingredients such as Moutan bark (Mu Dan Pi), Gardenia fruit (Zhi Zi), Albizia bark (He Huan Pi), Peach kernel (Tao Ren) and Safflower flower (Hong Hua) to address patterns described in TCM as Liver constraint with internal Heat and mild Blood stasis on a background of Spleen weakness. These descriptions belong exclusively to the traditional conceptual system of Chinese medicine and do not refer to modern anatomy, psychology, or scientifically validated physiological effects.
