Fluid or Overeat?
A bloated or full feeling in the abdomen is unpleasant, but the cause can vary. In traditional Chinese medicine, we distinguish between a feeling of fullness due to “dampness/moisture” and a feeling of fullness due to “food stagnation.”
Ping Wei San: The Moisture Eater
“Ping Wei” means “Calm the Stomach”.
Cause:Digestion is slow, and there is a lot of fluid in the system (damp). The person feels heavy, tired, and perhaps a little nauseous. The tongue is often coated with a thick, white film.
Operation:This formula uses aromatic herbs to “dry” the fluids and get the spleen moving again. It “wakes up” the stomach.
Bao He Wan: De Digestief
“Bao He” means “Maintaining Harmony”.
Cause:Simply ate too much, too fatty, or too heavy food. The food “stagnates” in the stomach. This can cause acid reflux and an aversion to food.
Operation:This formula contains herbs such asShan Zha(Hawthorn) specifically aids in the digestion of fats and meat. It helps the stomach break down and pass on the food pulp.
